1. Launch Safari on your iPhone and go to iphonenodata.com
2. Tap the “Disable EDGE/3G” button
3. Tap “Install”
4. Tap “Install Now” to confirm
5. Enter in your passcode
6. Profile is installed and EDGE/3G data will be disabled!
To re-enable data and revert back settings to the way it was before, go to Settings – General – Profile
Click “Remove”

I did the steps, however when I open safari or any application that fetches data and even that I get the messages about it being unable to connect to the internet, when I go into the settings – usage statistics it shows its still downloaded a couple hundred k’s! this scares the sh&t out of me, why even it cant connect to the apn and the errors show, it still downloading data from my carrier’s network, or is just fake data? is data being downloaded at all?

I’m living in Singapore and using Iphone 2.2. I installed this, after that, i try to use Map, it prompts something like i can’t use because data package was disable. But a part of the map where i’m searching still appear. Then I check Data package sent and received, it still increases. Can u help me with this?

This is very very helpful miracle tool edge/3g disable for all people that owns a Iphone and do no want to get charged for provider data edge/3g… I have wifi and that was the reason I got this phone so I can check my e-mails on my WIFI router, like my wifes Ipod touch. Now she dont have that problem, but last night it was my 1st day outside with my Iphone and I was at a friends when I notice the E on the top left corner, I was like hmmmmm hope I am not charged for this E, two hours later I get a text message on my Iphone saying this: “(456) 789-12. Fido msg: you have incurred $15 of charges for your data not included in your mobile browsing option. Question? call 611.” lucky I found this site after reading and looking at the reviews I was convinced this is the miracle tool I will wait one month and if this really works like the 100 people reviews they gave I will surely recommend it to my friends and will be donating for sure thanks a million. hi, i disabled my iphone edge/3g about a month ago and you was working incredibly well but yesterday it started connecting to edge out of sudden! I removed the profile and installed again but it is still connecting to edge. any idea why this is not working anymore?

you can send sms yes. Email yes, if you are connected to Wifi.
“E” will still show but no data. Verify by going to a website with WIFI disabled… it will not work.
I installed this and I checked no cellular data is being used but when I connect using WIFI to my home network and go to safari or app that needs internet i dont get anywhere.
I verified taht the Profile is set to “disabled-EDGE-3G”

I’ve got a problem, cos I have installed on my iphone that profile and now I wanna get rid of it but I can’t. When I click remove etc. iPhone shows me a window: something like that: “profile deleting failure”. I dunno what to do. anyone got the same problem? and how can I delete the profile from my back up?

My friend is giving me his iPhone 3G to me for free in a few days because hes gonna get the iPhone 3GS, and i already have a AT&T phone, I was just thinking about taking my SIM out and putting it in to the iPhone 3G and just to the process above. Will it work??? I read somewhere that AT&T could automatically recognize that I’m using an iPhone and start charging me 30 dollars for the data plan.. is this true???… please e-mail me at chanshlvn007@yahoo.com if you know anything.
I see this profile… but nevertheless it’s not working. (I tested it with WIFI off and still I can go on the internet and I can find data transfer… which costs money)

With iPhone 3.0–
Updated my iPhone 3G (no jailbreak) to 3.0 and installed iphonenodata.com profile. I am using AT&T prepaid. All data traffic on wifi (when available). Though it shows 3G in top left corner, on accessing any website in safari or in mail app it says – “Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a cellular data service”.
On wifi everything is working fine – safari, mail, youtube etc.
Cellular data network in Settings > General > Usage show 0, 0 for bytes send & received.
Everything is working perfectly fine!

For everyone, it doesn’t work for every provider. Works for most. Confirmed on Rogers/Fido in Canada.
I’m using iPhone in Japan. Today I’ve upgraded to FW 3.0. But “disable EDGE/3G” doesn’t work although it’s still installed in my iPhone after upgraded.
I think I would try to re-install it tonight, hope it work…

You must reinstall this program after you upgrade to fw 3.0.
I am with Fido and after 3.0 update, edge worked.
Reinstalled program and now it is back to normal.
Before I upgrade to 3.0 I removed it first then after the upgrade, I reinstalled the program again and voila, it still works. thanks whoever you are.

A rep at a Fido store in Canada told me it was now IMPOSSIBLE to disable Edge on the new iPhone. I suspect she was “bending” the truth, but would still like to know for sure? (I wouldn’t want to pay the $100 penalty for ditching the data plan and then be stuck paying extra for Edge.)

My first generation (2G) iPhone is heating and losing battery after using this method of disabling edge. Anyone else having the same issue? I am running 3.0 OS. I will be finishing my 2 year contract with ATT next month. I hate ATT and their service sucks.
Losing battery and heat issues are from the 3.0 firmware. I know cause ever since I “upgraded” to 3.0 my battery drains much quicker for my 3G and my 2G iphone as well. It was perfectly fine with 2.2.1.
I have removed this “Disable EDGE profile” from my 2G iphone so far so good. but will update in 24 hours to see. But I will try it again, because I really want this Disable EDGE thing to work.
This is a update after removing this “Dsiable EDGE profile” . The phone is more than 80% lost battery power after 4 hours 37 minutes of usage and 1 day & 2 hours of standby. My Notifications are ON and so is BLUETOOTH option (but Bluetooth is not connected). Again I am on 2G iphone (first generation) and OS 3.0. Hope 3.1 solves all these battery issues.I am going to install this “Dsiable Edge profile” again and update my comments.

Well after installing this again. The battery reduced to 6 and half hours standby and was used for 4 hours 56 minutes. I dont know how it was used so much, I guess when I disabled edge the phone is constantly running some process(I dont know which one) and consuming battery. I guess this is the problem with 3.0. I will give this a try one more time once 3.1 is released.
will this work on unlocked iphone running on t mobile? or does this only apply to iphones on at&t, if so, any one know if there is a program that stops a t mobile iphone from connecting/using the internet.
I have this battery problem too, after i do this no-data-profile. My phone wont be charged and the battery was so hot. When i removed the “profile”, the charging works fine and there is no heat. But 0 bytes up&downloaded. So it works.
My idea is, that the creator makes this profile on low battery level and who knows? The iphone recognize it and set the wrong battery level.

I installed this software on my 3.0 iphone, it disabled the edge/3G, and everything else worked great with WiFi; but the problem is that i can receive phone calls anymore!!!! whenever my friends call, it turns to be switched off. i removed this software and the phone started receiving calls again. so am wondering if ther is any way to install this software and still receive calls??

I was directed to this profile installer after posting on the whirlpool.net.au forums regarding crazy data charges being incurred on my pre-paid plan (Optus prepaid).
I was extremely skeptical of using this approach. After much reading around though this approach seemed like it best suited my needs…provided it was for real of course. I watched a couple of clips on youtube where people were using similar approaches/sites to disable data and the feedback from people trying it was good (just search for ‘disable data on iphone’).
As such I took the plunge with ‘iphonenodata.com’ and gave it a go. I chose ‘iphonenodata.com’ because the walk through above indicates that data can be reactivated simply by removing the profile, whereas the other options I saw on youtube did not show this.
Anyways, I have the 32GB white iPhone 3G S (3.0 firmware obviously), bought unlocked direct from Apple. I use it with a prepaid Optus sim card and applying the profile installer on this site worked exactly as described!
Before applying the profile I turned off my wifi and reset my data statistics. I then opened safari and confirmed that I was able to navigate to one of my bookmarks. I then went back into settings, turned wifi back on, navigated to iphonenodata.com, followed the steps and installed the profile. I went back into settings > general and confirmed the profile was installed. I turned wifi off again, reset my data stats again and attempted to browse with safari. This time I got the message ‘Could not activate cellular data network: you are not subscribed to a cellular data service’. I tried a few more sites as well as my email and got the same thing every time. Checking my data stats everything was still at zero data sent and received.
After that however, I went into settings and removed the profile. With wifi still off I was once again to browse in safari, so not only does this profile installer work properly, but it can also be removed effectively at easily at any time. I have since re-installed the profile and will be leaving it there until such times as I need data services.

P.S. I forgot to note that when out of wifi range I still get the 3G symbol in screen and I can still make and receive calls, sms’s etc exactly the same as normal, only difference is data services do not work. Good stuff!
As to steve’s comments about battery life, I will keep an eye on my iPhone and see if I notice anything.
Steve, perhaps you could try installing the iStat app to see what process are running on the phone as well as memory, cpu usage etc with and without the profile installed. If something is running in the back ground after installing the profile as you suggest then it should be consuming system resources and therefore be visible.
JonBoy26, thank you for the post. I have done the same with my 3gs and it easily disabled Edge. I will wait another month or two to double check with ATT that no data has been actually used. Also JonBoy, even though 3G and EDGE has been disconnected, I have 2 questions for you:
1) Using Wifi would not incure any data charges right?
2) Although EDGE has been disconnected, Edge is still displayed on top left corner, right?

Currently I am “secretly” running a first gen iphone on the Canadian Rogers Network. I had the ‘Fake APN’ installed prior to the 3.0 upgrade, worked fine but then I noticed data charges on my bill. Luckily I told Rogers/Fido to block all data so I had no problem disputing the charges.
Installed this app and no more data problems…

Hey PeleDao, to answer your questions:
1) Using wifi will not incur and data charges through your phone account. Keep in mind however that if the wifi you are connected to is your home network, then any data usage counts toward your home internet usage.
2) In my case even though 3G/EDGE has been disabled I do indeed still see a ’3G’ symbol in the top left corner.
It’s now been 3 days since I installed this tool and my data sent/received stats are all still ‘zero’ kb, so the tool is working nice.
I’m not sure if it’s a placebo effect or not but since Steve mentioned it I have noticed that my phone is chewing through battery these last couple of days. I installed the iStat app to see if I could detect any differences in memory usage, however there did not appear to be a difference between having the profile installed and the profile removed. I’ll keep monitoring battery usage and see if I can get a better handle on whether the profile effects it.
Steve, I got the same issue as you. I´m on 2G iPhone, OS 3.0 . After installing the “disable edge profile”, my battery was gone after 6 hours of stand-by!!! That just makes the phone useless…

Same here I am using 2g iPhone, since I install the program it can block all the data but the power drain alot faster than it supposed to be. My phone doesn’t heat up but the battery drain 20% after 20 min use. It works but kill power.
I downloaded this profile on my 2G iphone which has 2.2.1 software. Given that the phone is 2G, I was only having the data charging problem with Edge and GPRS, which alternate between displaying an ‘E’ and an ‘O’ in the left hand corner. Will the profile still work for me, given that I don’t have 3G coverage? Because I installed it, and all my other roaming, push, fetch options are also turned off, but my Cellular Network Data still increases from time to time.
I don’t get it. Shouldn’t it stop increasing altogether?

Even if I disable the APN changing the login, the phone still connect to EDGE!

As Steve says the battery life reduced a lot and also i feel that the battery is heating a lot
i have Etisalat 3G Iphone 3.0
i am telecommunication Engineer, i think the reason of losing the battery and the heats came from the number of attempts while the Iphone is trying to connect to the Edge or the 3G and refused.
The Iphone doesn’t stop these attempts, and while trying to connect it requires radio channels which is on the other hands need more power as if your are calling or receiving calls.
so if the admin can program this profile to not try more than once will be perfect.

Unusual battery depletion is almost always caused by people choosing to “Restore from backup” instead of “Setup as new iPhone” when iTunes asks you. This isn’t caused by either the jailbreak or the unlock, but it’s a common 3.0 snafu. The fix is to just re-run the official 3.0 restore and choose “Setup as new” this time. Your music and apps and all that will still be synced, but you’ll get rid of any conflicting wifi, bluetooth, or carrier settings.

My battery depletes very quickly right from a fresh firmware restore as well before even trying to disable EDGE/3G.

I just updated my Iphone 3G to 3.0.1 and set it up as a new phone. I then installed the patch from this site. My phone has been on for 2 hours now and it is only down to 99% battery life.
So in sort don’t restore your iPhone from backup like the iPhone dev team says and your battery issues will be gone.
* also note disabling data doesn’t work on all cell company iPhones. My Fido/Rogers/AT&T iPhones work with this site. So if people would post which company they’re with when it does work this could be useful for people.

when you’re in standby it’s ok but when you’re working with it, it loses 10% in 10 min oder sth…….
I downloaded this to block edge on my iphone 3g and it worked fine. But when i removed the same profile, edge is not working. Any thought on how to resolve this.

I’m in France and using an iphone 2G on an Orange mobi Carte (pay as you go). I never had a problem with wifi reverting to edge before I installed firmware 3.0. But since the install, just on the first day I used, without my knowledge, over 35 euros of data. Ouch ! I read that this was because of the push email and push everything else. So I disabled the push and this seemed to do the trick, until I used the map out on a trip, again lost lots on data charge. Beaucoup euros…
I have just installed the iphonenodata and it seems to be working fine. When I’m not on wifi, it displays the message, ‘could not activate cellular….” it also now stops from receiving email, stocks, weather, maps on edge. This is fantastic.
The good things it doesn’t stop from receiving and sending calls. and I can re-connect to a wifi network and everything works fine through the wifi.
So in fact there is no need to switch on or off iphonenodata. Just let it run in the background. (i think?)
I’ts only been a couple of hours since the install (of iphonenodata) and I don’t see my battery going down, yet.

I installed this in iPhone 1G Jailbroken and the battery drains like anything.. The phone switched off within hours of installed as the battery drained. when i tried to charge the phone, it never crosses the red mark.. The application is good but the battery consumption is too bad.. I am not sure whether this the case with all 1G jailbroken phones..
Try latest firmware 3.0.1. After I did a fresh firmware install and setup iphone as new, as in DON’T restore your old settings, no more battery drain issues on my 3G and 1st gen iphone. See the iphone dev blog for this problem. It’s not just the iphonenodata profile that is causing fast drains.
It would help to know which cell phone company you’re with. Not every provider will work because of the way they set up their APN settings for the iphone.
+1 faju – I’m seeing the same thing. After installing this profile, I can’t receive calls. I’m running an iPhone 3GS, latest OS, my sim is an AT&T Gophone Pay-As-You-Go.

I’ve a jailbroken 2G iphone, firmware 3.0 on network One-2-Call in Thailand.
I downloaded/installed iphonenodata yesterday and initially it seemed to work. Then ‘something’ happened to my phone (in iTunes, in the memory status bar, 7.5 GB of ‘Other’: no apps, no videos, no music, just ‘Other’ – can’t attribute this to any ‘event’).
After restoring and jailbreaking with redsn0wv0.72, I installed iphonenodata again. It worked for a while then I noticed the ‘Sent’ data was 2.0 kB…
Maybe 10 minutes later, unfortunately, Edge was downloading just fine!!!
If anyone can offer any assistance to rectify this it would be appreciated.

Further to last msg Posted September 6th, 2009 at 5:45 pm:
I removed the One-2-Call simcard and put my UK simcard back in: the UK card doesn’t incur extra charges over here (and I can’t use it because of Vodafone’s ‘normal’ horrendous charges!).
I then re-ran redsn0wv0.72 again to clean install, re-ran iphonenodata, AND loaded SBsettings from Cydia.
I then used SBSettings to turn off the 3G toggle, which was on; EDGE, which was on; and various others (Bluetooth, etc.)
I then put my One-2-Call SIM card back in the iphone and monitored the situation. No data was downloaded and I couldn’t access the internet via safari or my email: No Internet Connection, excellent! There was also NO ‘E’ on the status bar.
About 2 hours afterwards I saw on the screen an error message: ‘Error:0×7′
Apologies but I did see this error the other day as well (Sept 6th). Forgot it then though.
On this screen was the option to Cancel or to Accept. Neither of these buttons ‘worked’ and I had to turn the iphone off and then back on again.
As soon as the iphone was booted up and ready to go, EDGE kicked in and started to download.
The [iphonenodata] profile settings are still the same: ‘disabled EDGE-3G’.
Cellular Data Network Settings still the same.
SBSettings still have 3G, EDGE, etc., turned-off but I can see the ‘E’ in the status bar and can access the internet and email via the relevant apps and EDGE.
Following this, I then put the UK sim back into the iPhone and all works as before, no error messages, etc.
I put the One-2-Call Simcard back in my old Nokia and, after about an hour or so, I get the SAME error message (Error:0×7) on the Nokia? I then have to turn the Nokia off and on to stop the error message.
3 hours later, I haven’t received, as yet, a second error message on the Nokia.
Don’t know if this provides any additional useful information but I hope some genius can rectify this as I’m having to use my 30-Euro Nokia as a phone as opposed to the item I actually bought to use!!

I contacted the help team at AIS/One-2-Call and asked them to disable EDGE/3G for my cell number which they did – problem sorted
It doesnt work for Movistar Spain with a 2G Iphone Os 3.1.

I am having the same problem as melstebar. I have a Fido block (which they tell me is not 100%) and I also have the iphonenodada profile installed.
Everything was working fine, until I added the fido block…
I am thinking of just having them turn it back off.
I am noticing a 1kb every 15 min or so usalge (sent) going up. This is adding up fast!!!
How to remove this app from 3GS? I can’t find this app in my phone after installed n disable GPRS.
I suspect our iPhone’s are falsely giving us these small data numbers, like 33 kb sent, 1 kb received.
As you know, I had fido turn off my data months ago. My internet only works on wifi. But when I try to connect with wifi turned off, the counter moves but no Internet.
This new problem started 2 days before my billing date.
I checked my new bill and there is no data charge.
The question is-why is the profile allowing the iPhone counter to work?
It was always at zero before and I got the “no connection available” message”when I tried to connect.
BTW, I have tried uninstalling this profile and installing unlockit.co.nz.
The result is the same.
Any help from the admin would be appreciated.

I used the program and it worked perfectly. When i uninstalled the program and wanted to install again it was not possible to install it for a secont time.
What do I have to do to install it for a second time. Is Apple so clever and does not let me install because they know that this is a perfect program?

I got iphone 3GS and unlocked it from outside.so if i follow these steps will it effect my setting or my iphone will be locked again?I want to confirm before i do anything.help plz.

I’m currently using an iPhone 3G on 3.0 firmware. I have the $30 unlimited internet plan from AT&T. So I dont really need this on my phone. My wife does though. I installed this onto my phone and its been three days and it has veen working properly. When i turn on the 3G settings either on SBSettings (must be jailbroken to get SBSettings) or settings>general>network, the 3G icon appears, but I cannot use the Internet unless I’m in a wifi coverage area. The edge icon appears as well when ever I’m not on wifi or 3G, but the same happens, no data usage. What I’m concerned about is my wifes phone, I upgraded and jailbroke her phone on 3.0.1 so I’m skeptical if it will work on hers.
Oh, almost forgot. I got MMS to work on both phones. Yet again, MUST be jailbroken

i’ve installed this disable edge/3g profile thing, it works great, but the problem is the battery, it drains really really fast, i was quite surprise in the morning found out that half of the battery has gone, i thought that i was sleep walking and played my iphone for a few hours in the night. but i also find out here that most of this problem are happened on a 1st generation iphone…
It’s an apple issue in regards to the high drain. It happens on one of my 3G and I don’t even have the iphonenodata profile installed.

Hi, i’ve got a jailbroken & unlocked iPhone 3GS running OS 3.0. I installed this iphonenodata APN when I travelled to the US because my AT&T connection doesn’t have a data plan. I live in canada nd am on Fido nd returned today so I wanted to remove the profile but my phone doesn’t appear to have any profile installed.
I have a data plan here in Montreal so I don’t need this APN I installed but I don’t know how to remove it cause it is not under general > settings. Admin pls tell me what else I could do to remove this APN to recover data usage? I don’t want to restore my phone or anything. Tht wld be rather annoying.
I’ve tried reinstalling the profile but still same issue.

Cant find the profile!
Using ur Wii Connection go to the iphonenodata.com web site and reinstall “disable EDGE-3G”.
Go to Setting> General> Scroll down an dthere u have the profile.

It doesn’t work at all. After reboot on mu 3gs I had 1) “E” symbol at the top, 2) gprs-traffic in Safari and 3) traffic on google-maps (((
I’ve been abroad and installed the profile. However, now I got a data plan but even when I remove the profile it doesn’t allow for 3G. Tried other simcards and it works with those.
Does the program overwrite something? Is there a clash with some update? It appears more people have the same problem. Really appreciate the application and I hope this will be solved. Would be nice to use internet again. Please communicate about this.

What if it doesn’t work on 3gs 3.1.3?? what to do then???
Guys, if you have trouble with this, just go into Setting/General/Network/Cellular Data Network, and delete all fields in the Cellular Data part.
If you leave anything there, it will try to connect, and drain your battery, but if you save all fields as blank, it will work. No install, no risk, just remember the setting for later use. It is working fine for me, no paid data, just wi-fi.
