5 steps to Disable EDGE/3G data on iPhone

*Works on all iPhone firmwares up to 3.0 and most cellular carriers*
* Personally tested on my iPhone 2G/3G 3.1.2 on Rogers *

If you have an iPhone but didn’t get a data plan be in for a shock after you see your bill. When out of range of a Wi-Fi access point, the iPhone will automatically connect via EDGE/3G periodically incurring expensive charges. Usually 5 cents per kilobyte, 1MB is $50!

Here is how you disable it.

1. Launch Safari on your iPhone
2. Go to iphonenodata.com
3. Tap the “Disable EDGE/3G” button
4. Tap “Install”
5. Tap “Install Now” to confirm

That’s it!

Go to “Settings – General – Usage” to check if you’re using anymore data. The counter shouldn’t go up from on.  As you can see, my phone never ever used any data.

If you try to browse a web page, this is what you see.  Data is blocked

    This has nothing to do with WIFI. it only touches the APN for edge/3G.

    I must be doing something wrong…. though I tried everything. When pressng “Disable Edge/3G” nothing happens on my iPhone. I enabled most everything on the phone like Install Apps, etc. Any ideas?

    I don’t understand. A data plan is required on iPhone 3Gs anyway. What’s the benefit here? no way to NOT have a data plan placed on the account AFAIK. LMK please. Thanks

    pop-ups and scripts are enabled and still i get the problem of not getting any response when i press the disable button in my safary ! please help , i get this every month and my parents are killing me for this……plz help…..

    Hi. I have installed this app, works fine with 3gs 3.01 soft in UAE (Etsalat). The Problem is if i want to enable edge again i removed the app but it is still blocked, what to do?

    Hi there

    Need your help – urgently!
    Wanted to enable edge with your download – but because I am Mac user, I can’t open the download. Am I doing something wrong? I actually followed your steps, but didn’t come further than to tap the button. It downloaded something which I cannot open… Theres no ‘Install’ or anything like that! HELP?!!

    to enable EDGE again, go to setting > general > look for profile, below..and simply remove it..

    Does it means that v3.1.x is not supported? :(

    As I understand the feature of the proposed profile is a not valid APN, username and password. So the carrier will refuse to establish GPRS/EDGE connection.
    Yeah such a trick had worked some time ago. But lately I found that traffic’s counters are incrementing :(
    Not sure what’s happend, the only reason I suppose is a firmware upgrade.

    I would be greatly appreciate it if you could explain me what’s wrong :)

    Hi. i have tried downloading the profile and it work for me for the first few days. but now, it is not working and my phone is still able to go online vide Edge. I try reinstall the profile but still dont work for me. Please help. Thank you.

    hi…i’m an iphone user in malaysia with os 3.1.3. actually the official carrier gave option using prepaid or postpaid.so i choose prepaid and every time i reload my account, it will be automatically deducted. so with this program work in malaysia too because i don’t want to use the data plan.hope for your feedback soon.thank you
